The selection of cutting tools

Sep 11, 2023Leave a message

The selection of cutting tools should consider the processing capacity of CNC lathes, process content, workpiece materials and other factors. The tool selected for CNC lathe not only requires high hardness, high wear resistance, sufficient strength and toughness, high heat resistance and good process, but also requires stable size and easy installation and adjustment. Therefore, new high-quality materials should be used to manufacture CNC machining tools, and optimize tool parameters, so that the size of the tool is suitable for the surface size and shape of the workpiece to be machined. So, how to choose the right cutting tool?
(1) Select the appropriate tool
In the machining of CNC lathes, the role of metal cutting tools is extremely important. The material for manufacturing the tool must have high hardness, wear resistance and heat resistance, sufficient strength and toughness, good thermal conductivity and manufacturability, and good economy. In the process of selecting the tool, under the premise of meeting the requirements of parts processing, try to choose the tool with a larger diameter, and the strength and toughness are better; In the same process, the number of selected tools is as small as possible to reduce the number of tool changes; As far as possible to choose a general standard tool, do not use or less special non-standard tools.
(2) Reasonably determine the knife point
The tool point is the starting point of the tool movement relative to the workpiece when machining a part on a CNC lathe. Also known as "program starting point" or "point to point". The selection of cutter points must comply with the following principles: ease of digital processing and simplified programming; Easy to find on the lathe, processing is easy to check; The resulting machining error is small. The position of the cutter point can be selected on the workpiece or outside the workpiece (such as on the fixture or lathe), but it must have a certain size relationship with the positioning reference of the part. The tool point should be selected as far as possible on the design basis or process basis of the part, such as the hole positioning of the workpiece, the center of the optional hole as the tool point. The position of the tool is aligned with this hole, so that the "place point" and the "tool point" coincide. In this way, you can better improve the efficiency of the tool and ensure the processing quality.
